When my editor assigned me to interview a girl named Meeghan Henry I went blank. “She is an Indonesian artist that resides in California,” said my editor. That was it. So of course, like any scholars in our time I turned to the source of all knowledge, Google. Little that I know, this sixteen-year old Indonesian born model/singer is well on her way to stardom.

Meeghan’s journey in the showbiz began at the age of 5 when she started modeling. After winning the runner up child model of the year at a fashion show in New York, she continues on taking singing and dancing classes. Eventu- ally she started singing professionally and was introduced to producer Ronnie King while she was recording at the California Sound Studio. King is a veteran at the music in- dustry; he had work with several big names like Mariah Carey and Tupac Shakur.

Meeghan admit that “she had come a long way” since then. She released her debut album at the beginning of this year. One of her recent accomplishment in the music industry was being nominated as the Pop Artist of the Year at the LA Music Awards last July.

Asked on how she manages to keep up with her busy schedule, she said that she had to be disciplined. She sac- rifices her social time with friends. She admits that though she wanted to experience school, she wants to focus more in pursuing her dream. Her mom is also very supportive of her; she called her mom her “Mommager.”

Aside from her singing career, Meeghan is also involved in Pageantry. She is the newly crowned Miss Teen Asia USA. Enduring this pageantry really shows Meeghan’s de- termination and character. For her preparation, Meeghan shared that she loss twelve-and a-half pounds by running and strict diet. As far as the mental preparation, she said that she tries to stay away from “the drama,” that she said is not uncommon in these pageants.

All this activities does not limit Meeghan’s ability to keep up with school. In fact, she opted to be home schooled to be able to finish 11th and 12th grade in one school year. She did her schoolwork “quick and on time.” Her work ethic was rewarded with honors Meeghan’s goal for education is a master degree, “no less than that,” she said with poise.

Meeghan really works for her craft, she insists to write her own songs because by doing that she would have “better connection to her music and her audience.” Her inspiration comes from her everyday’s life.
